Garden of Health Service Event

ST Rotarians helped prepare the garden beds for planting at The Garden of Health Hatfield Farm. This undertaking was a lot more physical labor than what we typically do. The wind was strong and the mulch was blowing...but we persevered and prepared over 20 lanes in the garden to start the season! Thank you ST Rotarian Liz Herman for planning such a great morning!  CLICK HERE to see Rotarians at work!

Bean Bag Food Crawl

Sarah Bergin, Past President Karla Myers, Liz Herman, The Honorable Dan Yocum
On Sunday, September 18, our club served authentic "PA Dutch" food at the second annual Food Crawl, benefiting the Bean Bag Food Program.  This fundraiser sent participants to munch and sip their way along Main and Broad Streets in Souderton. We were in the building next to Univest, labeled, “Conference Center”.  Psst – here’s a secret – it’s not the conference center…it is a delightful walk back in time with many, many historical treasures!

100% Paul Harris Fellow Club

Photo: Past DG Bob Hobaugh, STRC Foundation Chair Rick Kowey, President Jason Donmoyer, Past President Karla Myers
Our club has received the distinction of being a 100% Paul Harris Club.  In Rotary District 7430, we are the fourth to do so, and join an elite group of only 20% of Rotary clubs worldwide.  The Paul Harris recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. Rotary established the recognition in 1957 to encourage and show appreciation for substantial contributions to what was then the Foundation’s only program.  Thank you to the generous members of our club for helping us achieve this status!

Our Foundation's Benefit Auction

Our Club raises funds throughout the year for the benefit of many persons and organizations in our community and around the world. This year, our Benefit Auction will be held on Thursday, September 22 at the Indian Valley Contry Club. We have been at the forefront of initiating notable community projects including the Souderton Community Pool, Maurice W. Foulke Memorial Bandshell, the Indian Valley Boys & Girls Club and many more. In addition, we support a variety of youth leadership programs and scholastic recognition awards. Beyond our community, the Club and its members are active in supporting Rotary International’s humanitarian, health, and educational programs.  We are grateful for the ways our community supports us with these fundraising initiatives!  CLICK HERE to let us know how you can support our Auction!

STEM YEA Lift Off!

STEM YEA Class of 2022, Mission to Mars
Two and half years of work finally came to fruition this July when 41 Ascending 7th graders were registered for the first Rotary District 7430 Science Technology Engineering & Math Youth Explorer Academy (STEM YEA).  Twenty-one Rotary clubs sponsored students including two from our club and two from Harleysville.  For those of you who are not familiar with STEM YEA, it is a 4 day, 3 night academy for underserved middle school students with a multi-discipline curriculum based on the theme, “Astrobiology, the search for life on Mars”.  It was held on the Albright College campus in Reading, Berks County, PA,

Shop With A Cop

Chief Michael Martin, Officer Tim Boyle, President Karla Myers and Detective Glen Kranich
Our club presented a check to the Franconia Township Police Benevolent Association (FTPB). Combined with donations from friends of Rotary, the total amount donated was $10,500.  These funds will be used for the FTPB's annual "Shop with a Cop" event.  This annual event strives to create a positive interaction between law enforcement and the community by helping economically disadvantaged children shop for gifts for their families during the holiday season.

MLK Day of Service

Members of our club and friends took the MLK Day of Service seriously!  The day is meant to be a "day on, not a day off" for service.  A volunteer driven, non-profit, in our community, Care & Share Thrift Shoppes, is in need of volunteers.  Many of Care & Share's "traditional" volunteers are in high risk groups for exposure to Covid, and are sheltering at home.  We enjoyed spending the afternoon at Care & Share and interacting with members in our community.

Congrats Class of 2020

As a Rotary club, we have been strong advocates for education and students within our community. Graduation season is upon us, and this year we wish to recognize graduates who are within our ST Rotary Club. Thanks to Covid-19, these students and their families are missing the "Pomp and Circumstance" that typically surrounds a graduation. Let's take a moment to make this milestone a bit more meaningful for our club members by sharing their good news!  Follow the link to see photos!

Among the most rewarding things we get to do as Rotarians is the shaping of young adults into tomorrow's leaders through various scholarship and awards programs.  Camp Neidig is one such program which ST is pleased to sponsor each year for qualifying Souderton Area High School (SAHS) Juniors.

Tee-Off raises over $12,000 for Youth in our Community

The Golf Benefit was an unqualified success.  The weather was very cooperative, the Indian Valley Country Club (IVCC) staff knocked themselves out to take care of all our needs and we had many Rotarians volunteering to make the event run smoothly.  The event raised about $12,000 for the youth in our community.  The Stone & Flick Children's fund will be a significant beneficiary.  Click on the photo album on the right column to see all of the fun!

Stone Flick Fund Update

Word FM, a local, faith-based radio station, and the Souderton-Telford Rotary who partnered with Univest Foundation to establish the Stone & Flick Children Fund are pleased to announce that the Fund has reached $109,538.62 as of Tuesday, January 13. The Fund was started to assist the Stone daughters and Anthony Flick, surviving children who lost their parents and sibling after the devastating tragedy in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania on Monday, December 15.
“We are overwhelmed by the support of the community so far,” said Dave Baker, Word FM station manager.  “It’s heartwarming to see people coming together to help those in need. We are encouraged to see that even if we can’t replace the void in these kid’s lives, we can help make their future a little brighter”
