Many of you know the story. Suzi Berry, Karla Myers, and I all joined at the very same meeting. We didn’t know each other well at the time, but we shared something important: a sense of excitement, a willingness to step into something new, and a desire to serve our community through this incredible organization.
What we didn’t fully realize in that moment was that we were also quietly making history—breaking through what had long been an all-male club. We were warmly welcomed, and that support has never wavered.
Suzi was the first of us to step forward and lead, serving as President in 2018–19 with enthusiasm and courage. A few years later, Karla followed, guiding the club through 2021–22 with grace and strength. Somewhere along the way, the three of us made a pact—we wouldn’t serve back-to-back, but we would each take our turn when the time was right.
As for me? My own journey to the presidency began with an off-the-cuff remark that a woman should lead during our Centennial year. And just like that, I found myself serving as your President for 2025–26.
If you’re newer to the club, you might be thinking, “Of course—they’re natural leaders.” Let me gently let you in on a secret: we didn’t feel like experts. We didn’t have it all figured out. What we did have were willing hearts and a shared belief in the mission of Rotary. That made all the difference.
And here’s something else I’ve learned along the way—when you step into leadership in this club, you are never alone. The members of Souderton Telford Rotary show up. They encourage you, support you, and genuinely want to see you succeed. It’s one of the most beautiful parts of this organization.
Right now, we find ourselves with an opportunity. We are still looking for a future President for the 2028–29 Rotary year. If you’ve ever wondered whether you could lead—whether you have what it takes—I encourage you to consider this: leadership here isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about having the heart to serve.
