It was my great honor to represent our club at the 32nd Annual MONTCO 4-H Market Animal Sale at the Farm, Home & Youth Complex in Collegeville PA.

Looking back, I believe this is the third time I've attended this event. This time I was accompanied by ST Rotary Member Karla Myers and my daughter.

You might think that the "stars" at the show were the animals, I would disagree. We had a great time catching up with the students who raised the animals. They were so excited to see us, especially the students who attended our meeting in July.

Of course there was plenty of county fair treats to sample like funnel cake! I also got to vote on which chicken I like the most - that was very difficult because they were all very different. It was great to see other Rotary Members in attendance, like Dean Shollenberger from the Harleysville Rotary Club.

During lunch for the bidders, the students walked around and spoke to you about their animals. Then it was off to the auction!

From rabbits to steer to calves to hogs to goats to lambs - over 70 animals were paraded in front of bidders. You could quickly tell which students spent time with their animal as some of the animals were better behaved than others. If you look closely at the above photo's, you will see two of the students who spoke to us in July. Several of the animals were donated to Manna on Main Street to support their food panty.

Thanks to a "purchasing partnership" with the Harleysville Rotary and Harleysville Bank, our club "spent" $500 on the Grand Champion Market Goat that sold for $2,600 raised by Paul Buckman. It was a great day seeing young people shine!
