One of my recent simple delights has been waking up to the surprise of fresh snow.

There is something magical about pulling back the curtains to see the world transformed overnight — trees dusted in white, rooftops glistening, and the quiet calm that only a snowfall can bring. Cleopatra, my 9lb Maltese-Shih Tzu and I then head out, breathe in the crisp, cool air, and simply enjoy the beauty around us (she loves the snow almost as much as I do!)

January is also a natural time to think about new goals and, sometimes, new beginnings. As I reflect on our club, I am so grateful for the many ways so many of our members “plug in.” Whether you serve on a committee, show up for a service project, help with an event, or quietly support behind the scenes — you are the reason we are a vibrant and meaningful Rotary club.

At the same time, I want to gently share that our weekly attendance is still tracking low — currently at 36% of our membership, compared to 40% last year. I would like to invite you to consider attending just one more meeting than you typically would. A goal for 2026! I know the dark, cold days of January are not for everyone, and heading out at night may not always feel appealing. But our connections grow stronger — and our impact grows deeper — when we show up for one another.

We need each member to take their commitment to Rotary seriously, and your presence truly matters. Thank you for all you do, and for the spirit of service and fellowship you bring to our club. Here’s to meaningful new beginnings — together.
