It was a delight to host ST Board Members at our home for dinner!
There are few things I enjoy more than hosting guests for dinner in our home.
My love of hosting comes from my youth. My family started attending a Mennonite church when I was an adolescent. After church, I loved visiting church members homes for dinner - as we did not have a vast extended family....nor were either of my parents very talented in the kitchen. I loved to see how different families hosted, the pretty dishes, the clever menus, the different topics of conversation. It was a great example on how to foster friendships and get to know people.
I am very grateful for those of you who stepped up to serve on our Board this year. Our club is fortunate to have members who are willing to go this extra mile of service to all of us. We had some great topics of discussion and learned a lot about each other - including that one person played underwater hockey during their college years. Most of us had not a clue as to what that was, and that it is a nationally competitive sport!
As we look towards inviting other to join our club, let's make sure our mindset is to be welcoming to others. I know we can get pretty comfortable hanging out with our friends at our meetings, but let's make sure there is an opening at each table for someone you might not know very well.
Let's Unite for Good!
