Members of the Club met Thursday, October 24 with the owner of Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, Inc., located in Hatfield, PA. Tom Rebbie and his daughter Janine, Operations Manager, gave us a rundown on the succession of owners to this day since the founding of the PTC in 1904.
This local company is the world's leading supplier of cars and equipment for many of the country's best-known roller coasters (think The Beast) and other amusement park equipment. In years past they worked with carousels and ski ball machines (sold in 1985). We spent an hour hearing about the conventions they attend, the awards they have received, and the many projects they have ongoing. A trip to their work area showed numerous coaster cars being prepped for the show and designs with paint colors for many different coasters around the states. Their work area was very organized, and things were in position to be worked on the next day. Thanks to Tom and Janine for their time and information about their interesting and fun-inducing business.
