In August I was contacted by a resident of Souderton who visits Rotary Park regularly.
Shortly after the Rotary Peace Pole was installed she contacted Souderton Borough to see whose idea it was to put a Peace Pole in the park and how does she get in contact with them.

We exchanged emails and a quote from a portion of her email is:
“In this time of widespread disharmony and tension in our country and beyond, it is reassuring to know that Souderton is a place in which “PEACE” is a value that is visibly put forward as important in our community.”

On I went with planning the final details of the park improvements for the September 13 Grand Reveal and Party in the Park, didn’t think anything more of the email conversation. Last week when I stopped at the park to see how the final landscaping was going in the sculpture area; there was a group of seven people surrounding the Rotary Peace Pole. I introduced myself and met the resident I had email conversation with 6 weeks earlier.

Now the story gets better. I found out various members of this spiritual group have been meeting for about 50 years and continue to be impressed by the transformation of the park and the sculpture garden area. What they were going to do is to meditate, play some music and “bless” the Peace Pole.

The impact Rotary is making in our community is greater than anyone can imagine. The Peace Pole is a visible symbol of mutual kindness, respect and cooperation toward one another is part of the park.

And they will all be attending the “Party in the Park” event on September 13!
