Under the proposed plan, the club would transition to meeting on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at Broad Street Italian Cuisine & Pizzeria.
This proposal comes after thoughtful discussion surrounding the rising costs associated with meeting weekly at Indian Valley Country Club. While our club greatly values the hospitality, atmosphere, and experience we have enjoyed there over the years, the increasing weekly meeting expenses have become cost-prohibitive for some current members. Additionally, these costs can create barriers for prospective new members—particularly individuals who do not have an employer or business covering the expense of attendance.
Under the proposed new format, members would order and pay for their own food and beverage selections directly to the restaurant at each meeting. The leadership team believes this approach could provide greater flexibility and affordability while still preserving the fellowship, friendships, and meaningful connections that make Rotary special.
The Board also discussed maintaining some of our special traditions and signature events at Indian Valley Country Club whenever possible. Special events—such as “Change Over Night”—could continue to be hosted there, pending availability, and would likely be offered as separate ticketed events. This approach would allow the club to continue enjoying memorable celebrations and larger gatherings while reducing the financial burden of weekly meetings.
In addition, the Board will be discussing the current $5 missed meeting fee at the June Board Meeting as part of the broader conversation surrounding meeting structure and membership affordability.
As our club looks toward the future, leadership believes this change could position Rotary to better meet the needs of today’s members while also creating a more welcoming pathway for new individuals interested in service and community involvement.
Importantly, Rotary is about much more than where we meet. It is about the impact we make together through service projects, scholarships, community partnerships, and fellowship. The Board believes this proposal supports those priorities while helping ensure the long-term strength and sustainability of our club.
