Dear Rotarians and Friends,
I want to congratulate Al Engel, the Indian Valley Beer Fest committee, and the many volunteers from STRC and the Indian Valley Public Library on hosting an extremely successful community event on Saturday. Visitors streamed into the Souderton Community Park to sample a wide variety of beers, wines, whiskeys and spirits while enjoying some good food and great company.

So much work goes into hosting an event like this and although I am sure there were challenges and glitches, everything was so beautifully organized on Saturday. My daughter, Allie, joined me for our official jobs as bottle-runners. We were supposed to take purchases to the snack stand for storage so they could be picked up later. The demand for that service was low, so we started asking brewers and vendors if they needed anything and offering them water from the Moyer Indoor Outdoor station. The organizing committee had thought through so many details that requests were few and far between.
That gave us plenty of time to talk with visitors and take in what was happening. People were talking, laughing, hugging, playing games, singing and just connecting. So, while this was set up as a fundraiser, the advantages went well beyond that. Thank you to all who made this possible!
