Dear Rotarians and friends,
Last month, Karla Myers and two students from the Souderton Area High School Interact Club joined us for a meeting and described the 6-word memoir exercise that Interact had done that day.

This exercise can be done alone or in groups and Interact decided to do it in groups.  Students interviewed each other to see what words and phrases stood out and then pieced words together to sum up their lives, experiences and who they are at this moment in time.  It was really interesting to hear what they came up with.  I looked up the exercise online and found some great examples (below).
  • Failed SAT. Lost scholarship. Invented rocket. - William Shatner
  • Computer, did we bring batteries? Computer? - Eileen Gunn Gown
  • removed carelessly. Head, less so. - Joss Whedon
  • Automobile warranty expires. So does engine. - Stan Lee
  • It cost too much, staying human. - Bruce Sterling
  • I’m your future, child. Don’t cry. - Stephen Baxter
  • I’m dead. I’ve missed you. Kiss … ? - Neil Gaiman
  • “I couldn’t believe she’d shoot me.” - Howard Chaykin
  • Easy. Just touch the match to … - Ursula K. Le Guin
  • Help! Trapped in a text adventure! - Marc Laidlaw
  • Thought I was right. I wasn't. - Graeme Gibson
  • Dinosaurs return. Want their oil back. - David Brin
  • Please, this is everything, I swear. - Orson Scott Card
  • Corpse parts missing. Doctor buys yacht. - Margaret Atwood
  • Time traveler's thought: "What's the password?" - Steven Meretzky
I have been thinking about my 6 words since then and thought it would be interesting for us to do this exercise on Thursday.  What 6 words sum up your life so far?  How would that change if you were to work with fellow Rotarians on a combined memoir?
I look forward to hearing what you come up with on Thursday!
