Dear Rotarians and friends,
Confidence, experience, and passion are the words that come to mind when I think about Dr. Frank Gallagher’s visit to our club last Thursday.

I have long admired the success of the Souderton Area School District and wondered what the secret was.  Dr. Gallagher shared stories from over 30 years of education leadership that help guide the way.  There is a broad focus on students, teachers, support staff, families, facilities, curriculum, feedback, and continuous innovation to meet changing needs.  All of this is done with the consideration of taxpayer accountability and transparency needed to build trust.  Leadership of the District is an enormous responsibility and I was so thankful that Dr. Gallagher took the time to talk with us about his work.

I had the opportunity to have dinner with many members of our club and their families on Friday at So Much to Give Café.  Kindness and understanding are the words that come to mind when I think about the dinner.  Those words apply to the leadership, employees, volunteers, and patrons equally.  It was beautiful.  The Café was recommended to us by Rick Kowey, who has known one of the founders, Kathy Opperman, for over 50 years and the dinner was organized by Frank Tranzilli, President-Elect.  Kathy and Tyler Kammerle, another founder and the Café Director, will be visiting us at Broad Street Grind this Thursday to talk with us about their work and I look forward to hearing more.
