Gathering in the library served as a meaningful reminder of Rotary’s longstanding commitment to literacy, education, and community enrichment. It was especially fitting that our guest speaker for the day was local author Julie Henning, who shared the story behind her book, A Rose in the Ditch.
Julie spoke candidly about the inspiration for her writing and the deeply personal journey that led to the publication of her book. A Rose in the Ditch is a powerful story of resilience, hope, and finding beauty in unexpected places. Through heartfelt storytelling, Julie reminded us that even in life’s most difficult seasons, growth and purpose can emerge.
Rotary Members and guests appreciated Julie’s authenticity and vulnerability as she described the challenges she faced and the lessons she learned along the way. Her message resonated strongly with Rotary’s commitment to service, compassion, and lifting others up in times of need.
We are grateful to the Indian Valley Public Library for hosting us and for being such a vital part of our community for so many years. We also thank Julie for joining us and for sharing her inspiring story with our club.
