Dr. Annabel Beerel will be sharing with us on "Courage: The Heart of Leadership" "Courage is the secret to freedom and happiness," said the great Pericles, and "courage is existentially part of who we are," wrote the philosopher and theologian, Paul Tillich. Yet, courage in our rat race materialist world, is not that readily found. This talk covers our seeming loss of courage and virtue, explains what these terms mean, and explores how we might return to a society that is once more anchored in these life-giving principles. Dr. Annabel Beerel specializes in Leadership and Change Management. She is a highly experienced executive coach and educator. Annabel has worked with international corporations, as well as educational and non-profit organizations. She has been a Corporate Financier and Investment Banker in the City of London where she was actively engaged in business analysis, fund raising, merger and acquisitions and strategic planning. She founded and ran a highly successful international business in Artificial Intelligence and was the founder and President & CEO of the New England Women’s Leadership Institute, an organization aimed at helping women advance in their careers. Annabel has held a Chair in Ethics and was an Interim Dean at Wellesley College in MA and taught at Radcliffe College, Suffolk University, Tufts, and the Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Annabel holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Religion and Ethics, holds a Masters Degree in Transformational Psychology, a Masters Degree in Theology from Boston College, a Masters Degree in Creative Writing, and has pursued Advanced Leadership Training at the J.F. Kennedy School of Management at Harvard University. She holds an MBA with a focus on Corporate Finance and Strategic Management. She is also a qualified accountant, a certified Transpersonal leadership coach, a certified meditation instructor, and a certified spiritual counselor. Annabel has written twelve books and is an active public speaker on a variety of topics. |

Be sure to be on hand for our special Dinner Music & Sing-a-Long Night. BASIX band members, Rick Kowey, Bob Bacon, and Mike DeFazio, will provide a half-hour of easy listening folk, popular, and old rock dinner music from about 6:15 till about 6:50 PM, and then will lead a sing-a-long until about 7:20 PM. Lyrics for the sing-a-long will be provided, and the band will play and also entertain questions about the various instruments they will be playing, including six-string and twelve-string acoustic guitars, electric guitars, banjo, ukulele, mandolins, Irish bouzouki, keyboard, and Syrian oud. The practice of singing at club meetings was introduced by Harry Ruggles at the Chicago Rotary Club in 1905 to foster fellowship and goodwill, and we will carry on that tradition. This may also be a fun opportunity to bring a guest who may have an interest in joining Rotary. Spread the word! |
