DESCRIPTION:More than 40% of U.S. households struggle to afford essential n
eeds\, pushing them to make difficult decisions and take significant risks
every day.  We will be led by Keystone Opportunity Center through a 2.5-
hour Poverty Simulation that explores the lived experience of poverty firs
thand through the eyes of real families. Our club has sponsored the purcha
se of this simulator for Keystone to use as an educational tool.  For yea
rs\, many top-down or well-intentioned approaches to poverty have left out
the wisdom and leadership of those closest to the challenges. This experi
ence challenges participants to rethink poverty\, respond effectively\, an
d partner with those affected for change.   We hope every Rotary Member
will attend this event and invite other friends\, family\, and community m
embers to participate in the experience.  Our goal is to: Deepen our unde
rstanding of the lived realities and human impact of poverty in the United
States. Improve practices and approaches to better engage and partner wit
h people navigating poverty. Work more effectively with others in our comm
unity to foster opportunities and environments where all people can thrive
. A light meal will be served during the evening.
